Richmond, VA– Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn released the following statement on the Virginia House of Delegates passage of HB 1414 (Filler-Corn), modernizing transportation funding and highway safety in the Commonwealth.
“In November, voters overwhelmingly demanded this General Assembly session be focused on good governance where we pass bold, long-lasting lasting reforms that improve their everyday lives. The landmark transportation modernization legislation passed by the House today delivers on that mandate.
This bill works to ensure our constituents can go to work and get home as quickly and safely as possible. By passing this legislation, we will continue to grow our economy and reduce congestion, make our roads safer and transform passenger and commuter rail. It is a win for Virginians in every corner of the Commonwealth.
Thank you to Governor Northam and Transportation Secretary Shannon Valentine for their vision and commitment to real, lasting transportation reform in Virginia. Thank you as well to Chief Co-Patrons Delores McQuinn, Vivian Watts, Rip Sullivan and Jay Jones for their work in ensuring this bill’s passage in the House.”
