RICHMOND, VA — Virginia Speaker of the House Eileen Filler-Corn released the following statement Wednesday in response to the announcement that Virginia has risen from dead last to ranking 23rd in the nation for workers:
“This incredible news is a direct result of a General Assembly that is both pro-business and pro-worker. Virginia was the worst state in the nation for workers before Democrats gained the majority in the House of Delegates, initiating an era of historic cooperation between the General Assembly and the governor’s administration. In under two years, we have completely turned things around by passing legislation to facilitate healthier working conditions, better compensation, and protection against discrimination.
Our Commonwealth has proven that achieving the top state for business and supporting workers are not mutually exclusive — in fact, they go hand-in-hand. With Democrats in charge, Virginia will only continue to rise in the ranks.”
