Richmond, VA – Virginia Speaker of the House Eileen Filler-Corn released the following statement memorializing the 20th anniversary of the events of September 11, 2001:
“Today, on the 20th anniversary of September 11, we continue to honor the memories of the women and men whose lives were tragically cut short in New York, Pennsylvania, and here in our Commonwealth. We also pay tribute to the first responders who risked their health and safety and sacrificed their lives to save so many others, and continue to do so each and every day.
Virginia and our nation have seen many changes over the last two decades, but one constant is that on this day each year, we come together as one nation as we did when those tragic events unfolded.
We will never forget that harrowing day and its aftermath, but 20 years later, our nation and our Commonwealth remain strong.”
